Overview
I had the privilege of designing and manufacturing a captivating custom keychain, showcasing my skills in CAD modeling, engineering drawings, and metalworking. This project involved creating precise SOLIDWORKS models based on measurements from an existing keychain, culminating in the production of a visually striking and functional accessory.
The Design & Engineering Process
Meticulously crafted SOLIDWORKS models based on exact measurements from an existing keychain, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail. Comprehensive GD&T drawings provided precise specifications for each part, enabling flawless manufacturing with zero ambiguity.
Signature Feature
The custom keychain incorporates a water-jet cut purple gear as its centerpiece — adding vibrancy and uniqueness to its design. This eye-catching element represents the fusion of creativity and technical precision that defines the project.
Manufacturing & Assembly
- Utilized mills, lathes, and drill presses to manufacture each component from raw stock material
- Gained practical metalworking knowledge across multiple manufacturing processes
- Expert assembly ensured machined parts came together as a fully functional, visually striking accessory
- Each dimension verified against GD&T drawings before final assembly sign-off
